US Army Rangers - Elite light infantry
US Army Special Forces- Many jobs, but mainly asymmetrical warfare (Taking out insurgents or helping insurgents learn to defend themselves)
US Navy Seals- Long range underwater recon, but they can do many other jobs as well
USMC elite units (MARSOC, Force Recon, etc)-Long range land recon
US Air Force elite units (PJ, Combat Controller, Spec Ops weathermen)-Mainly in support of Air Force Missions (PJ's rescue downed pilots, CC and SOWM help planes find targets
Most of these units are extensively crosstrained and can do eachothers job reasonably well if necessary. They also have teams within them that do different jobs.
