Do you think the federal government should set uniform gun laws throughout the country?
Which state's gun laws should they most emulate?
NO! Not on your life.
First, there are plenty of other things that the Feds should stay out of and let the States decide.
Mostly though, there is no single National climate on the 2nd
Amendment.
I have not seen a proliferation of sane "Gun Laws" , so this will color my position. responsible firearms owners seem to be the target, as they are the very people who abide by laws in the first place, but alas are NOT the problem.
Inhabitants of NYC by and large have shown themselves poor stewards of their many of their freedoms. People in Nebraska (for example only) don't seem to have this problem.
Fire arms ownership is a RIGHT, but one that comes with responsibilities, as all Rights do.
hunters, ranchers, farmers all have legitimate reasons to own & employ firearms.
I live in a rural area where the local law enforcement has told me that I can expect a minumum 40 mins. repsonse time. I should have the ability to protect myself. This may not be the case in urban & suburban localities.
I cannot make a good comment on which State to emulate, but would hope it is one that protects responsible firearms owners and has severre penalties for those who violate the trust given to them.
