What is a Flatline Barrel or Apex Barrel?
I just got a Paintball Gun and i want more accuracy. I was looking through other questions and i keep seeing flatline and apex barrels. What are they and what is so special about them?
Ditto to what the guys said above. I've tried them both on my x-7. The flatline is curved to put a backspin on the paint to make it shoot flatter. Down side is they are very loud, hard to clean, not accurate. Not worth it at all. The apex barrel is better but still not good. It has a dial to change the amount of backspin. The end of the barrel also rotates making it possible to shoot around corners. On paper it sounds cool, but it really doesn't come in as handy as you'd think. By the time you figure out where exactly your paint is going, the guy has moved. The apex is a little more accurate than the flatline.
You say you're looking for accuracy. Get a Freak Barrel. My brother put one on his x-7. The groups are so tight you couldn't measure them. Just one splatter mark no matter how many times you pull the trigger. Also using compressed air instead of co2 will make your gun more accurate.
