Regarding reading glasses versus prescription?
Work at a computer all day.. Have neck pain, headaches, etc. Went to the eye doctor and she prescribed +.075, +.075, both eyes are the same. Very low power.
I bought some computer reading glasses that are +1.00.
Question: Is there any real difference between +0.75 and +1.00? Should I fill the prescription or save my money and just use the computer reading glasses? These are the Magnavision Titanium computer reading glasses, $19.99. Not sure if the lense is as good as prescription..
The lens is NOT as good as a prescription, I can tell you that right now. A prescription lens will be of a higher quality plastic, will have anti glare (very helpful for working at a computer screen), may even be polarized and have UV protection. Also, with glasses that are made for you, the center of the lens is placed so that it's even with your pupil--not so with those glasses you pick up off a rack. This will be beneficial in the long run, you'll have less eye strain overall--and a decrease in the headaches and neckaches. You can get a good pair of glasses for under $100, easily--maybe even under $50 if you shop around or get them at like Costco or something. But sometimes I'll get better deals at places like Lenscrafters when they do a big sale (which is usually in August or September). You'll be better off in the long run getting a pair of glasses made for you, even if it's not a strong prescription.
