How do you change out the barrel of a door knob lock?
The key for my dead bolt, in my front door, goes in the key hole at the bottom. The key for the door knob goes in at the top180 degrees off. I want to make both key holes on the same side. how do I rotate the barrel of the door kknob?
It sounds like the lock cylinder in your door knob is in upside down. Depending on the manufacturer, the procedure is different. Remember, the cuts [teeth] on the key should always point upward [lever lock; side-ways].An operating key is always required, or the lock must be picked, and quite often, a speciality tool, must also be used. Unfortunately, this falls under secrets I have sworn to keep, however, the original installation instructions, should tell you how. Or contact the manufacturer, I'm sure they will also help. And of course your friendly neighbourhood locksmith will do it for a modest fee if you bring it to his/her shop.
