Are cast alum-alloy wheels generally stronger than steel?
I've got a bent steel wheel from hitting a pothole. I could replace just the one wheel, but I don't want to do this again after the next pothole, so I am considering buying alum-alloy replacements for all four (cast, not forged because they're too expensive). Considering that my primary concern is wheel strength, not looks, is this is good decision?

Regarding strength factors, If you bent a steel wheel with a pothole, you would probably have cracked a cast wheel.
Report the pot hole and make sure it gets fixed.
I would replace the steel wheel (if you are not after appearance) and present a bill to your local county roads department
(you may or may not get laughed at, and you may or may not get your money back, but it is worth a shot...)
