Why do so many believe that air kills sperm?

I read a lot of answers that say that air kills sperm. Air definitely does not kill sperm. Where did this myth come from? And why do people spread it like wild fire without getting the facts?

Air doesn't kill sperm, what kills sperm is the fact that they need the semen to live, so if the semen is dried (by air) or wiped the sperm dies.

Saying that, some people may perceive it as "air kills sperm"....lol
